This handcast copper statue depicts the Four-Armed Manjushri Bodhisattva with a warm gold finish and a painted face. The figure sits in full lotus on a double-layer lotus pedestal, raises a sword in one upper hand, and carries a small scripture resting on a lotus bloom at the shoulder, beneath a carved jeweled crown. It is made as a decorative art piece for a home altar, shelf, or meditation corner, and three sizes are offered so it can be matched to the display space.
Cultural Symbolism & Artistic Design
Manjushri: In Mahayana Buddhist tradition, Manjushri is the bodhisattva traditionally regarded as the embodiment of wisdom and insight, and his crowned, serene form has been cast and painted across Buddhist art for centuries. This statue follows that classic iconography.
Raised sword: In Buddhist iconography, the sword held by Manjushri is traditionally understood as the sword of wisdom, regarded as cutting through ignorance and confusion. Here it is held upright in the raised hand.
Scripture on a lotus: The book resting on a lotus stem at the figure's shoulder traditionally represents the Prajnaparamita, the wisdom teaching long associated with Manjushri in Buddhist tradition.
Lotus throne: Rising clean from muddy water to bloom, the lotus is traditionally regarded in Buddhist and South Asian traditions as a symbol of purity and quiet emergence. The double-layer lotus pedestal beneath the seated figure carries this motif.

Why You'll Love This Statue
- The gold finish, painted facial details, and carved crown and jewelry give the figure a clear, recognizable presence rather than a plain silhouette.
- Three listed sizes make it practical to fit a desk, shelf, or altar niche.
- Copper has a warm tone and develops a natural patina with wear, and each handcast piece carries slight variations.
Care Instructions
As the listing notes, this statue cannot be wiped. Keep it in a dry indoor spot away from prolonged moisture, perfume, lotion, and harsh chemicals. Handle and move it by the base, keeping clear of the raised sword and the slender hand-held pieces.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I choose among the three sizes?
The listed sizes are 10*6.5*5cm, 15*10*7cm, and 20*10*7cm (Height*Length*Width). Measure the shelf or altar space and compare the height first: the 10cm version suits a desk or tight niche, while the 20cm version reads as a focal display piece.
Is the face painted or all gold?
The main listing shows a gold-finished body with a painted face, including dark brows and a red mouth, and a painted-face version is also listed. Compare the versions in the listing before ordering if you have a preference.
What is the statue actually made of?
The listing identifies the material as copper, with a gold finish over the handcast surface. Copper is a warm reddish metal that can develop a natural patina over time, so keeping the piece dry helps preserve the gilded look.
Can I wash or wipe the statue to clean it?
No. The listing explicitly states the statue cannot be wiped. Keep it away from water and cleaners, and place it where it will not collect heavy dust or be handled often.
Is this a good gift for someone with a home altar or meditation space?
It is a fitting choice for altar or meditation-corner display. Note the size you are gifting, since the three options differ noticeably, and mention that the piece is handmade with slight irregularities.
