The Buddha Ceramic Lotus Backflow Incense Burner is a Zen-style set built around a smooth matte ceramic figure — a seated meditation form or Buddha, monk, or Avalokitesvara pose depending on the style chosen — resting on a dark wood pedestal with a slender brass ring rising behind it. A backflow cone burns in the small copper holder at the top of the ring, and its smoke streams down past the figure in a slow waterfall, while a lotus-shaped cup on the same base holds a stick incense.
Cultural Symbolism & Artistic Design
Seated Figure: In Buddhist tradition the seated, hands-together meditation posture has long symbolized compassion, stillness, and introspection, and such figures are familiar reference points in Buddhist-influenced decorative art. The faceless, matte-glazed rendering here keeps the pose simple and contemporary.
Brass Halo Ring: A plain circle set behind a seated figure echoes the halo motif traditional in Buddhist sculpture, where the ring marks the space of quiet attention around the subject.
Lotus Cup: Rising clean from muddy water to bloom, the lotus is traditionally regarded in Buddhist and South Asian traditions as a symbol of purity and quiet emergence. In this set the lotus appears as the open blossom that holds the stick incense.
Backflow Smoke: The downward smoke flow is a physical effect of the cone design — cooling smoke sinks along the figure — used here to animate the still scene rather than as a claimed property of the piece.

Why You'll Love This Set
- Eighteen styles: Buddha, Avalokitesvara, little monk, and meditation poses in white or cyan glazes, so the figure can match the room it sits in.
- Two incense roles in one base: the copper cone holder runs backflow cones while the lotus cup takes ordinary stick incense.
- Composed scene: figure, ring, and lotus share one 16cm wood pedestal, arriving as a finished display instead of loose parts to arrange.
Care Instructions
- Let the burner cool before moving it, and use only on a stable, level surface.
- Wipe ceramic parts with a soft dry cloth; avoid soaking the wood pedestal — clean it dry and keep it away from moisture.
- Empty ash regularly and keep the cone channel clear so smoke flows downward as designed.
- Never leave burning incense unattended; keep away from drafts, curtains, and flammable items.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get the "waterfall" smoke effect?
Place a backflow (downstream) cone in the small copper holder at the top of the brass ring. These cones burn downward and produce cool smoke that sinks along the figure. Regular incense cones will not create the flow, and drafts break it — display the set away from fans, open windows, and air conditioners.
Is incense included in the package?
No. The listing states the package includes the wood pedestal, ceramic figure, lotus cup, and small copper incense holder, sold without incense. You will need backflow cones for the waterfall effect and stick incense for the lotus cup.
What is the difference between the 18 styles?
The styles vary by figure and glaze: Buddha, Avalokitesvara, little monk, and meditation-pose sculptures, offered in white or cyan tones. The pedestal, ring, and lotus parts are shared, so choose purely by which figure and color you prefer on display.
Will the wood pedestal stain from ash or oil?
The pedestal is unfinished-leaning dark wood, so brush ash out promptly and avoid letting resin sit on it. A quick wipe with a dry soft cloth after use keeps the grain clean; do not wash the wood with water or cleaners.
