This long ebony and bodhi seed mala necklace strings glossy black ebony beads and pale bodhi seed beads into one two-tone strand of 8mm rounds. The two colors meet at a white guru bead with a carved conical base, from which a round yin-yang disc and a short tassel of dark seed beads hang. The full-length strand can be worn at the neck or wrapped several times around the wrist, and the black-and-white palette reads cleanly against neutral clothing.
Cultural Symbolism & Artistic Design
Yin-yang: In Chinese philosophy, the yin-yang figure represents the interdependence of opposites — light and dark, active and receptive — each half carrying a seed of the other. The carved disc at the mala's end states that idea directly, and the split black-and-white bead arrangement echoes it along the whole strand.
