This 108 mala beads cyan jade and red agate Laughing Buddha bracelet strings translucent green cyan jade beads through the full strand, spaced with a carved red agate Buddha head, an amber bead, a faceted amethyst bead, a pale carved Hetian jade flower plaque, a short run of soft pink beads and gold-tone spacers. The knotted tassel carries carved ruyi-shaped beads and finishes with a round peace buckle disc. At 84cm the strand wears as a necklace or wraps around the wrist several times.

108 beads: 108 is regarded as a sacred number in Hindu and Buddhist tradition, and a full mala is traditionally strung with 108 beads to count one round of recitation.
Laughing Buddha (Budai): a familiar figure in Chinese and Buddhist-influenced decorative art, traditionally associated with contentment, good humor and cheerful welcome. Here he is carved in red agate and serves as the mala's guru bead — the traditional start-and-end point of the strand.
