This handmade Azure Dragon statue is cast in translucent blue-green liuli crystal glass: the dragon coils into a full circle with its crested head raised at the top, scales and claws picked out in clearer glass, and an amber-toned pearl held at the center of its body. The waves of glass fall into a flat clear base engraved with a Chinese idiom, and the piece is made for display on a shelf, desk or altar rather than for wear.

Azure dragon: The dragon is a longstanding motif in Chinese decorative art; in traditional Chinese cosmology the azure dragon is one of the four celestial guardians of the ancient star map, associated with the east and the spring season, and dragons have traditionally been linked with water and rain.
