This Lotus Ceramic Incense Burner with Buddha Hand and Hanging Sphere is a sculptural tabletop piece: a robed clay arm rises from a curved sleeve on a long wooden base, its fingers holding a chain from which a glazed sphere censer hangs, banded with a Greek key frieze around its middle. When incense is lit inside, the smoke draws down from the sphere's lower opening in a slow stream toward the base, where a small seated figure sits at the end of the plank. The listing comes in green, dark green, brown and light green finishes, sized for a meditation corner, tea table or shelf display.
Cultural Symbolism & Artistic Design
Buddha hand: In Buddhist-influenced art, the hand of the Buddha holding a jewel or vessel is a longstanding motif traditionally associated with giving and compassion. Here the draped arm and poised fingers are rendered as a ceramic sculpture that suspends the censer like an offering.
Lotus sphere: The hanging censer is the lotus sphere named in the design. Rising clean from muddy water to bloom, the lotus has traditionally been regarded in Buddhist and South Asian traditions as a symbol of purity and quiet emergence, and it is used here as the guiding motif for the sphere.
Seated figure: A small white seated Buddha figure completes the scene on the base; in Buddhist tradition the figure is a longstanding emblem of serenity and introspection, used here as a decorative art reference.

Why You'll Love This Piece
- A real sculptural presence: at 33 cm tall and nearly 2 kg, the robed arm and hanging sphere read as a display piece even before the incense is lit.
- Living smoke effect: the suspended sphere lets the smoke fall in a slow stream past the base, turning the ornament into quiet motion during use.
- Four glaze directions: green, dark green, brown and light green finishes let you match the burner to a tea room, altar shelf or modern desk.
Care Instructions
Let the burner cool fully before handling or emptying ash, and keep it on a stable, level surface during use. Wipe the ceramic with a soft dry cloth and avoid harsh cleaners, soaking or dishwasher use. Store it dry, and lift rather than drag the hanging sphere to protect the chain and glaze band.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does the hanging sphere work when burning incense?
The censer is the sphere itself: incense burns inside it, and the smoke exits through the lower opening so it streams downward along the base instead of rising straight up. The chain lets the sphere hang freely, which is what creates the falling-smoke effect.
How much space does this piece need on a shelf?
The listing gives overall dimensions of 28.5 cm long by 9.5 cm deep by 33 cm tall, with a weight of 1950 g. Plan for about a 30 cm stretch of shelf, roughly 10 cm of depth, and some headroom above the hand so the smoke can clear.
Do the color options change the whole piece?
The four options (green, dark green, brown and light green) change the finish of the ceramic piece, so the glazed parts of the sculpture shift tone between versions while the overall sculpted form stays the same.
Is the base part of the piece, and what is it made of?
The sculpture is displayed on a long wooden base plank that carries the seated figure at one end. The listing states the material of the piece as Ceramic; the base gives the heavy arm a stable footing on a table or shelf.
How do I clean ash and smoke residue?
Wait until the burner is completely cool, then empty the sphere and wipe the ceramic with a soft dry cloth. Avoid wetting the glaze or using abrasive cleaners, and keep the chain and Greek key band dry so the finish stays even.
