This ceramic Lotus Lid Incense Burner pairs a rounded, footed body with an openwork lotus lid, and a cone of incense sits inside so the smoke drifts up and out between the carved petals. The body carries a high-gloss reactive glaze — a deep mottled red on this version — with blue, green, white, and yellow also listed, and each glazed piece comes out slightly varied. It is a compact accent for a tea table, altar shelf, or desk, and the burner is sold without incense.
Cultural Symbolism & Artistic Design
Lotus lid: Rising clean from muddy water to bloom, the lotus is traditionally regarded as a symbol of purity and quiet emergence in Buddhist and South Asian art. On this burner the motif is worked in relief across the domed lid, its overlapping petals doubling as the openings through which the smoke escapes.
Reactive glaze: The mottled, mirror-bright surface comes from a reactive glaze firing rather than from any applied decoration, so no two bodies carry exactly the same pattern.

2. These products are HANDMADE and NATURAL, therefore they may present some irregularities, and due to lighting effects, the color may slightly vary from the one shown in the picture.
Why You'll Love This Burner
- Smoke curling out through the pierced lotus petals turns a plain cone into a slow, sculptural display.
- The glossy reactive glaze catches light differently across each piece, so the finish you receive is one of a kind.
- At 10.5*7cm and 200g, the footed body feels substantial yet small enough for a shelf or bedside table.
Care Instructions
Keep the burner away from prolonged moisture and do not soak it. Once the ash has cooled completely, remove the lid, empty the interior, and wipe the ceramic with a soft, dry cloth; avoid harsh cleaners and chemicals. Store it dry, away from harder objects that could chip the glaze.
Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of incense does this burner use?
An incense cone sits inside the body beneath the lotus lid, and the smoke rises out through the perforations between the petals. Incense is not included with the burner.
Will the glaze color match the listing exactly?
The listing offers red, blue, green, white, and yellow versions, but the finish is a reactive, handmade glaze, so the mottling and depth vary from piece to piece within the same color.
How do I clean ash out of the burner?
Let everything cool fully, lift off the lotus lid, tip out the ash, and wipe the inside and outside with a soft dry cloth. Keep water and abrasive cleaners away from the glazed surface and the lid.
Is the base stable on a smooth table?
The body sits on small feet and weighs 200g, which keeps it planted on a level surface during normal use. As with any ceramic burner, set it on a flat, heat-safe spot away from edges.
