Cast in translucent liuli crystal glass, this Handmade Liuli Crystal Koi Fish Sculpture shows a single koi gliding forward, its finely textured scales fading from warm amber-gold along the back to green and blue through the belly and flowing fins, supported by a swirl of carved glass waves on a clear rectangular base. It is made for display on a shelf, desk, or cabinet at home or in an office, and comes in small and medium sizes.
Cultural Symbolism & Artistic Design
Koi fish: In Chinese folk tradition the fish is a longstanding auspicious motif — the word for fish sounds like the word for surplus, so its image has traditionally been associated with abundance and plenty. The koi is also tied to the folk legend of the carp leaping the Dragon Gate, in which it is traditionally regarded as a symbol of perseverance and achievement.
Waves: The curling water beneath the fish places the koi in its traditional element, echoing the river and waterfall imagery of the Dragon Gate legend and giving the swimming pose its sense of forward motion.
Liuli glass: Liuli is a traditional Chinese cast-glass art form prized for translucent, jewel-like color. Here the gold-to-green gradient runs through the body so that light passing through the scales gives the fish its luminous look.

Why You'll Love This Display Piece
The translucent body is the point: set near a window or a lamp, light moves through the carved scales and the wave base, so the colors shift as you walk past. Two sizes — 21cm and 25.5cm long — fit a bookshelf or a wider console, and at 2500g and 3000g respectively the piece sits securely once placed. It is a fitting gift for a study, office, or new home.
Care Instructions
Dust with a soft, dry cloth. Keep the piece away from water, sweat, perfume, and harsh chemicals, and do not use abrasive cleaners. Set it on a level surface away from edges where it could be knocked over, and handle it with clean, dry hands.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which size should I choose?
The small sculpture measures 21*7.8*13cm (Length*Width*Height) and weighs 2500g; the medium measures 25.5*7*14cm and weighs 3000g. If your shelf is shallower than about 10cm, the small version is the safer fit.
What does the koi mean in the design?
It draws on Chinese folk tradition, where the fish's name sounds like the word for surplus and the koi is tied to the Dragon Gate legend of perseverance. Those are cultural references behind the design, not claims that the piece produces any effect.
Will the colors match the photo?
The general gold-to-green gradient is the same, but because the sculpture is hand-cast translucent glass, the flow of color and the tone of the scales vary slightly from piece to piece, and lighting and screens shift the appearance.
How should I display and clean it?
Place it on a sturdy, level surface with a little light behind or beside it so the glass body glows. To clean, dust with a soft dry cloth; avoid water pooling, chemical sprays, and abrasive pads on the glass.
Note: Cultural references describe traditional beliefs and design inspiration only. They are not claims that the product produces any actual effect.
