This mandala shadow box frame is a deep home decor piece: a medium density fiberboard frame with a wood finish holds a layered printed mandala scene in deep blue, with a metal lotus ornament suspended at the center of the box. Sized about 5.11 x 7.08 inches and 1.57 inches deep, it stands on a shelf, desk, or console as a quiet focal point, and two pattern versions are offered with yellow or brown frames.
Cultural Symbolism & Artistic Design
Mandala: In Buddhist tradition the mandala is a geometric composition representing the cosmos, historically laid out as the structure of thangka painting and used as a focus for contemplative study. This piece borrows that visual language: a square palace ringed by circular bands sits at the center of a blue field, with small figures placed around the border.
Lotus: Rising clean from muddy water to bloom on the surface, the lotus is traditionally regarded in Buddhist and South Asian traditions as a symbol of purity and quiet emergence. Here it appears as a cast alloy ornament — silver-toned petals around a studded gold center — hanging inside the box above the printed mandala, with a small knotted charm and red bead above it.

Why You'll Love This Shadow Box
- Depth you can see: the 1.57-inch box sets the metal lotus forward of the printed mandala, so light catches the ornament differently than a flat print in a normal frame.
- Two finishes to match a room: choose the yellow or brown frame version depending on the wood tones already in your space.
- Display-ready scale: at about 13 x 18 cm it fits a bookshelf gap, nightstand, or altar corner without crowding the surface, and it works as a gift for lovers of Buddhist-influenced art.
Care Instructions
- Keep the piece away from prolonged moisture and humidity; the fiberboard frame and printed insert are not meant for bathrooms or outdoor use.
- Dust with a soft dry cloth; avoid water, perfume, lotion, and harsh cleaners on the frame and alloy ornament.
- Set it on a stable, level surface out of direct harsh sunlight to keep the printed colors even over time.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is the piece displayed?
It is a standing shadow box: about 5.11 x 7.08 inches tall with a 1.57-inch depth, it sits upright on a shelf, desk, or console as shown in the setting, rather than hanging flush on a wall.
What is the difference between the two pattern options?
The listing offers two pattern versions with yellow or brown frames; the mandala scene and hanging metal lotus stay the same. Pick the frame tone that matches the wood colors near where it will stand.
Is the lotus part of the print or a real metal ornament?
It is a separate alloy ornament — silver-toned petals with a studded gold center — suspended inside the box above the printed mandala, so it casts a slight shadow on the artwork.
Can it be placed somewhere humid?
No. The frame is medium density fiberboard with a printed insert, so keep it out of bathrooms and away from splashing water; dust it with a soft dry cloth instead.
